Presenting Artists:

Jonathan Aller received his B.F.A in illustration at the Ringling College of Art and Design.  Shortly after graduating, his love for painting took him to Florence, Italy to study at the Angel Academy of Art Atelier under Maestro John Michael Angel.  At the Angel Academy, he studied techniques of the masters and received his Masters Degree in classical painting.  Having been exposed to so many artists, he gained a deeper respect for painting and its history.  "I love painting from life.  A portrait, a figure study, or a still life all express my desire to create.  I strive to keep true to the subject, while breathing life and excitement in to the painting."  Since graduating from the Atelier, Jonathan exhibited in Florence, London, Rhode Island and Minneapolis.  His work hangs in private collections throughout the world.

Lindsay Rude studied Art and English at Gustavus Adolphus and earned her masters in Art Education from University of Minnesota.  She works with clay, glass, metal and other mixed media, making both functional and sculptural works. “Through juxtaposition, repetition, rhythms, and multiples inspired by music, the influence of world cultures, patterns of people coming and going, I make art that explores the constant effort to tell life’s story.”

Janelle  Doyle (Painting Class teacher) is a figurative painter and licensed K-12 visual arts teacher. Her degrees include a Master of Arts degree in Art Education and a Baccalaureate degree in Art (drawing and painting) and Art History. She worked in the education division at the Science Museum of Minnesota and has taught community-based arts programs with Walker Art Center, Saint Paul Public Schools, and East Side Arts Council. She teaches currently at Saint Thomas Academy, a college preparatory school in suburban Saint Paul. Her specialty is using the arts of historical and contemporary world cultures to create authentic arts experiences. She is the author of "Paper Arts Around the World", a curriculum for multicultural arts education that requires only scissors, paper, and pencils.

Katie Sherman (Pottery Class teacher) earned a BFA in Fine Art and is a licensed Art Teacher.  She has taught elementary school as well as college level courses.  She teaches a range of artistic media from ceramics to painting to fiber arts.  She spent three teaching at Spanish Immersion Schools in the Minneapolis Public School District, including a year as a full-time art teacher.  Her pieces have been displayed and sold across the country, including many local art shows.  Katie loves working with children because they are her best teachers: “They lack the self-consciousness of adulthood—their creativity is still unbridled and free.”  www.raindesigns.etsy.com
